Gov Dickson’s Wife Evicts Niger Delta Traditional Rulers from Cultural Centre


Monarchs drawn from Nine Oil Producing states are currently stranded in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State Capital, due to events that have been attributed to the wife of the state Governor.


The traditional Rulers from Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo and Rivers States respectively gathered under the auspicies of the Traditional Rulers of Oil Producing communities of Nigeria were supposed to hold their conference at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Ovon, Yenagoa, only to be ejected from the venue by people who claimed to be agents of the Wife of the Bayelsa State Governor, Dr (Mrs) Rachel Dickson.


Sayelba Times was informed that the First Lady wanted to use that same Venue for a Prayer Meeting.


Some of the Traditional Rulers who spoke to Sayelba Times on the condition of anonymity  expressed dismay at the development and described the incidence as a flagrant show of disrespect for the traditional Institution.

According to them, they had booked theach venue long ago and received the permission of the Government to use it only to be disrespected today.

At the time of filing this report, they monarchs were lookjng for a new venue, with the Ijaw National Congress (INC) Secretariat,  “Izon Wari” top on their list of alternatives.
