YENAGOA — Ijaw youths have threatened to shutdown the operations of Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) in Bayelsa State if the power company fails to improve power supply in the State.
This was contained in comments made by the Chairman of the The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Central Zone, Kennedy Olorogun during a live Radio program in Yenagoa monitored by SAYELBA.com.
According to Olorogun the umbrella body of Ijaw youths has given PHED a 29 day ultimatum to improve power supply or risk their offices being shutdown by Ijaw youths.
It would be recalled that we brought you news yesterday that Unconfirmed reports reaching us have it that the galant youths of the Ijaw Youth Council Central Zone have planning to shutdown PHED if agreement is not reached that would get the commitment of the power Company to supply electricity for at least 3 hours a day from the 1st to 15th and at least 6 hours for the remaining part of the month.
For several months now residents of Yenagoa and the few other cities in Bayelsa covered by the National Grid have scarily enjoyed up to 100 hours of power supply per month.
